Our first hosted Lapland adventure exceeded every expectation – spectacular Kemijärvi scenery, authentic off-the-beaten-track experiences and a group who arrived as strangers and left as friends with life-long cherished memories.

Staying at the Jauri Arctic Lakeside Resort in Kemijärvi provided the perfect ‘quiet corner of the lake’ for our group. We were fitted with overalls, gloves and boots specifically designed for the cold weather.
Our cabins included all the conveniences – bedrooms, kitchen with fridge and dishwasher, a washing machine and a drying cabinet. The cabin also included a sauna.
In the main building, breakfast was included each morning, plus the first night welcome dinner and the final night farewell dinner. On the activity days, the Finnish hosts brought along hot juices, plus sausages and marshmallows to be cooked and warmed over open fireplaces.

What made this trip so special wasn’t just the breathtaking Arctic scenery or the incredible activities – it was how effortlessly everything flowed. Erin created an absolutely exceptional itinerary, taking care of every booking, transfer, reservation and detail. Not having to worry about logistics, timings or coordination meant we could fully immerse ourselves in the experience. All we had to do was show up and enjoy – and that is such a rare gift when travelling.
The adventure itself was beyond anything I could have imagined. Dog sledding through snow-covered forests felt like stepping into a winter fairytale. The reindeer safari was peaceful and deeply grounding – a beautiful way to connect with Lapland’s traditions. Snowmobiling across the frozen landscape was exhilarating and unforgettable. The evening under the Arctic night sky at Kaakkuri Kota was pure magic; standing beneath the vast, star-filled sky in the stillness of the Arctic is something that stays with you long after you return home.
The visit to Ranua Zoo and Santa Claus Village added a sense of childlike wonder, while the sauna, jacuzzi and even ice swimming were invigorating and empowering – stepping out of your comfort zone in the most incredible setting. Even the “free day” felt perfectly placed, allowing time to reflect, explore and simply soak in the surroundings.
Kemijärvi itself was stunning – a true winter wonderland of snow-laden trees and serene white landscapes. It felt peaceful, pure and almost otherworldly.
Erin was not only an outstanding organiser but also a fantastic group leader. She struck the perfect balance between being incredibly organised and wonderfully relaxed. Everything ran smoothly, yet the trip never felt rigid. She joined in on all the fun, experienced everything alongside us, and created such a warm, inclusive group dynamic. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and her attention to detail ensured that every day felt special. It’s rare to find someone who can both meticulously plan and fully participate – but Erin did exactly that.
This truly was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It pushed boundaries, created unforgettable memories, strengthened friendships and offered moments of awe that are hard to put into words. I came home feeling refreshed, inspired and deeply grateful.
