Aurora Pyramids – Levi, Igloo Accommodation
The Elves Village in Levi, is located just 7km from Levi’s centre. It offers authentic accommodation and a fairy tale experience based on mythology and stories. Boasting a range of accommodation styles, there is something there for everyone. The Village is a haven for families to freely explore the expansive grounds and have fun with onsite activities and creatures of the forest. With a newly built Santa Centre, I suspect The Elves Village will soon be the Christmas location of choice for many international families! At the rear and top of the property, tucked away from the central part of the village, you will find ten Aurora Pyramids, igloo accommodation in Levi.

Stay at the Aurora Pyramids in Levi, Lapland
Nestled on the enchanting grounds of The Elves Village, the Aurora Pyramids offer a truly unique Lapland getaway. The glass pyramids are beautifully designed and provide an authentic and cosy stay, ideal for families or small groups of up to four people. Ideally located away from the light pollution and the bustle of the main village, the Aurora Pyramids are perfect for witnessing one of nature’s most awe-inspiring spectacles – the Northern Lights. I was lucky enough to see this during my stay!
Authentic and Modern Igloos
The Aurora Pyramids are positioned at the back of The Elves Village, which make for a quiet and special experience. They were built with a distinctively authentic look and feel, where they combine rustic charm on the outside with highly modern comforts inside.
What I loved about the Aurora Pyramids:
- Comfortable accommodation: The pyramid sleeps four, with two pull-out single beds tucked into the lounge seating area.
- Mini kitchen: It is equipped with a sink, fridge, and kettle, you have everything needed for a simple meal or late-night tea as you take in the night sky. This is good for families travelling on a budget who want the experience of sleeping in an igloo but want to eat in to save some money!
- Cosy warmth: Thanks to electronic heating, I was nice and snug even as the temperature dropped outside below zero.
- Northern Lights alert system: A special feature that ensures you won’t miss a moment of the aurora dancing across the sky (if you choose to set it).
- Compact bathroom and mud room: There’s a small bathroom which makes way for the mud room where you can store luggage and boots, keeping the main ‘living space’ clean and comfortable.
Visit the Elves Village and Seita Stone
Visiting the Elves Village is a unique and fun experience. Discover the Elves Hideaway is a fun place for families to visit and enjoy Elf School, the Gingerbread House and the Hut of Knowledge.
The Seita Stone is a gem found on the way to the Elves Hideaway. You won’t miss it! Wander inside to learn more about the creatures of the forest.
Transport
Personally, I love having a rental car for convenience and being able to be on our own time schedule but I know driving in a foreign country is not everyone’s cup of tea!
I love that for added convenience at the Village, there are shuttles and transfers are available from both Levi town centre and Kittilä Airport. This is very handy when it is located out of the centre of town.
Year-Round Activities in Levi
Levi is a destination that offers adventure and excitement no matter the season. Whether you visit during the long winter months or the sun-filled days of summer, there is always something to explore.
Winter Activities
- Aurora hunting: With the Aurora Pyramids’ location away from light pollution, this is one of the best spots to view the Northern Lights right from your bed.
- Husky sledding: Experience the thrill of speeding through snowy forests as you guide your own team of huskies.
- Reindeer safaris: A more traditional Lapland adventure, you can enjoy a peaceful ride through snow-covered landscapes while learning about the Sami culture.
- Skiing and snowboarding: Levi Ski Resort is one of Finland’s top ski destinations, with slopes for every skill level that are open for seven months of the year!
- Snowmobile tours: Traverse the Arctic wilderness and take in the breath-taking beauty of Lapland while driving a snowmobile.
- Ice fishing and snowshoeing: Immerse yourself in nature with these slower-paced but equally magical activities.
Summer Activities
- Hiking: Explore Levi’s scenic trails and witness the natural beauty of the region. If you’re there in summer, you can experience Midnight Sun, which means 24 hours of daylight and more hours to hike!
- Mountain biking: With well-marked trails and varying levels of difficulty, Levi is a fantastic place to cycle through rugged terrains and lush forests. There are great biking maps located in the centre of Levi or at the bike rental shops.
- Golfing: Levi boasts an 18-hole golf course, set against stunning natural backdrops.
- Fishing and canoeing: Enjoy the peaceful lakes and rivers in the area, with plenty of opportunities for both beginners and experienced anglers.
- Visit to Santa Centre: Even in summer, the magic of Christmas is alive at the brand-new Santa Centre (opening for 2024 Christmas season), located in The Elves Village. Perfect for families, you can meet Santa and experience the festive spirit year-round.
- Reindeer and husky farm visits: Learn more about these iconic animals and take a leisurely stroll with them during the warmer months.
- Visit Santa’s Cabin: located on the mountain tops, take the trails to the top of the mountain and find Santa’s Cabin known from the Christmas Story movie (2007).
